  Beautiful setting, charming appearance from outside. Somewhat tired and in need of updating inside. Some rooms are very small and tight. Very basic accommodations.

  We had a sunset dinner in the patio. The food is prepared fresh by a Chef in a real kitchen, If you want something done a certain way, just ask. There is no assembly line meals here so be prepared to wait a little longer than at a chain restaurant. Its worth it!

  At checkout our party wasn't credited for the deposit paid when booking. Since the deposit is standard practice for this establishment, failing to apply the credit is a little suspicious.

  We were on the way to a weekend fishing trip but we were too late and night had started to set. so we stopped here for the night. It was a great decision! The owners were very kind and shared stories with us. We had a campfire by the riverside that night and ate well the next morning before heading out. The house itself is very old and charming and very easy to find.

  We booked this location using the on line registration form from the website at 9:30 on a Saturday morning. It seemed a little odd as it asked for our names, address, a phone number and the dates we wanted to book our room for, but there was no confirmation, or anything letting us know that the information had been received. About 15 minutes later our cell phone rang with a very pleasant German sounding man confirming our reservation and asking us if we wanted to pay for it now, or just for the deposit? We paid for the room on the phone as we were traveling for the rest of the day and may not be reachable.

  We stopped for dinner on the way back to Halifax from a day at the beach. The restaurant has a large outdoor deck eating area overlooking the Salmon River. The lobster roll was good as it was mostly lobster meat and lots of it. Since the owner is German we also tried the Goulash with spaetzle, which was also very good. The location was easy to get to as it is right along the highway and had lots of parking. We very much enjoyed our apple strudel for dessert, not too sweet.
